|

The idea for Ooh La La Mama, LLC was created in the end of 2006 by wife and husband team, Cindy Parker and Scott Stoughton. In February 2007 we produced our first garments and made our first sale. Here is our little story:
My hubby and I are full time emergency room physicians and the proud parents of two awesome boys, Max and Keir (4 and nearly 2).

We wanted to dress our kids in really cool clothing but were frustrated with the lack of edgier designs available. Starting an apparel business for us was quite an adventure (especially coming from a background of medicine with no fashion experience) and required a huge leap of faith! We knew we had a vision though and decided to take a chance and create our own line of fun, comfortable, funky children's clothing for our little monster love Max and for our baby to be. It was very important to us to find not only amazing art and designs for our apparel but also to be sure that the fabric would be soft and yummy against our babies skin - a formula that has worked well for us so far!
Our first order was from Mac and Madi in San Clemente, CA - www.macandmadi.com. We knew we were onto something great when Cory (the owner) placed an order for 400 pieces. Through Mac and Madi we were introduced to our first showroom in Los Angeles, CA - The Dressing Room. I cannot say enough good things about The Dressing Room and Lisa and Debbie who have helped us tremendously over the past year and a half.
By mid 2007 Ooh La La Mama had grown tremendously and we needed serious help. My childhood friend, Chris Maeoka, had just completed her MBA at UC Irvine and we were lucky enough to convince her to join team Ooh La La Mama as Director of Sales and Marketing in June 2007.
Chris and I met when we were 12 years old.
We went through high school together in Alta Loma, CA and were freshmen roommates together at UCSD. After college, I went on to medical school and met my husband Scott while Chris went on to pursue her business education. While our lives took us in separate directions (and across the globe - Chris lived in Japan for a while and I lived in France), we have always remained great friends. It has been a wonderful (and really trippy!) experience to be spending, once again, so much time together. While we used to sit around and dream about boys and our future as teenage girls we now sit around together (and drink wine, hee hee) and dream and make plans for Ooh La La Mama. Funny how this little adventure has brought us together again.
While this has been a ton of work, we really have had great fun over the past year and a half and met tons of new people and made a lot of new friends (especially Under My Umbrella in Costa Mesa, CA http://www.umu4kids.com/ ask for Sarah!). Ooh La La Mama now has boutiques across the US and internationally that carry our line (not to mention all of our loyal online customers) and business continues to grow on a daily basis...THANK YOU! We have lots of new products in development and love to hear from our boutique owners and customers regarding new ideas. We are staying true to our original vision of developing a great product for all of our little monsters and girly girls. Enjoy!
